Energy piles

Centrum Pæle A/S produces energy piles that use the resources from the earth effectively by means of geothermal heat technology. This means two-fold sustainability: the pile provides a static bearing capacity and supplies sustainable energy as well.

The energy pile can be used for heating and cooling of buildings and in some cases for storage of energy (from warm to cold periods).
The energy pile reduces the need for  traditional heating and cooling installations and in this way contributes significantly to CO2 neutral construction.

An energy pile typically contains approx. 60-80 metres of geothermal heat hoses. As opposed to  traditional, horizontal solutions, where geothermal heat hoses are placed approx. 1.5 metres below the ground surface, the heat from the energy piles is collected vertically through the layers of the subsoil from 1 metre and down to 18 metres below ground.

ENERGY PILE TEST PROCESS IN HORSENS
To ensure a greater knowledge of the system’s capacity under different geological and seasonal circumstances, Centrum Pæle has tested the energy piles together with VIA University College in Horsens.

The test focuses particularly on the following:

• Thermal conductivity in the ground
• Influence of the groundwater level on the capacity
• Capacity of the installation
• Heat pump, flow and the system setting for the highest efficiency
• Minimum distance between the energy piles
• Seasonal variation in the capacity
• Influence of the pile on the environment
