The concrete production at Centrum Pæle A/S takes place in two identical mixers from SKAKO. The mixers are fitted with viscometers and hygrometers to ensure a homogeneous concrete production. The homogeneity is important in our production which is solely based on a self-compacting concrete with an automated casting process. To ensure traceability of the piles, all data are regularly logged and backed up which makes it possible to return to the specific production at any time.
The concrete that we produce is certified according to DS/EN 206 DS 2426. As a standard, the concrete and the piles are produced in environmental class A. On request we also produce concrete in environmental class E with granite.
For the concrete production, we use only the following first-class materials:
The stones used as aggregate in our standard production are marine dredged materials. The materials are excavated from the North Sea and subsequently washed and fractionated. The stones are supplied as a material of the Danish environmental class A and as a certified material. On request we also use granite to obtain the environmental class E.
The sand is excavated from a local gravel pit and subsequently washed and fractionated. The sand is supplied as a certified material of the Danish environmental class E.
The cement is declared and certified according DS EN 197-1 and DS INF 135:2005. The cement is low-alkali meaning that it prevents initiation of alkali-silica reactions.
The fly ash is certified according to DS EN 450. It is supplied by Danish power stations.
Both the air-entraining agent and the plasticisers are certified according to EN 934-2 and are partly developed specially for Centrum Pæle.
The water comes from our own water well. To ensure sensible use of water resources, we recycle some of the water used for cleaning of production equipment. The water is controlled continuously.
Environmental and exposure classes
The concrete in Centrum Pæle’s standard piles is of environmental class A. This means that the piles can be used in most places. The Danish Geotechnical Society has worked out a guide to exposure classes and comparison of Danish, Swedish and German national normative supplementary demands to the Danish concrete standard EN 206-1.
